On November 20, 67 brave individuals headed outside into an Atlantic City night with sleeping bags and cardboard to serve as their beds. They lay on the sidewalks of the city, looking up at the Covenant House building where 145 young people were safe and warm inside. Together, these men and women raised more than $119,000 to continue the vital work of Covenant House New Jersey.
CODI was represented by 'Team CODI', employees who volunteered their time to spend a night on the streets. Andrea Cimmino, organizer and motivator, found the night to be humbling and rewarding. She was impressed by how many of the staff had been there 20+ years. She was also surprised to see the variety of people who came out including a High School principal and a municipal judge.
Kurt Ohlson also felt the event to be very humbling and said he'd like to bring his family to the next event. It was something he won't forget.
Bart Bullock said that for as cold as it was, it was very heart-warming. And, Cornell Jones was blessed to do this finding it rewarding and fulfilling to help someone in need.
