Workforce Development
In 1991, CODI was awarded its first
contract by Atlantic County to provide job readiness
and placement services to welfare recipients.
The Atlantic County Department of Family and Community
Development and CODI have developed a strong working
relationship which throughout the years has led
to the placement, retention, upward mobility,
and long term economic independence for countless
individuals.
We are currently collocated at the Atlantic
Cape May Career Centers in Atlantic City and Pleasantville
providing services through the Early Employment
Initiative (EEI). The EEI is designed to provide
intensive short term job search/job placement
services to TANF applicants in order to regain
independence and self-sufficiency by obtaining
and retaining employment and avoiding the receipt
of cash assistance. The need for support services
for the EEI participant to seek and obtain employment
are assessed during the intake/orientation process.
Assistance in securing child care, transportation,
clothing etc. are provided depending on the needs
of the customer. The program length is a minimum
of 15 days and a maximum of 30 days.
Referrals and funding is through the Atlantic
Cape May Career Centers.
