During my internship at CODI, I developed skills in community-based Occupational Therapy interventions. CODI provided me with opportunities to practice while considering the needs of the community and the capabilities of the consumers. I gained confidence in carrying out activities independently, as the staff trusted me and supported my growth as a leader in my field. Working with the consumer populations at CODI was an enriching experience, as both the Workshop and ATS communities made me feel welcome and involved.
This internship significantly contributed to my personal and professional growth, especially as an exchange student. It allowed me to share my culture while also gaining the independence and confidence to perform interventions without direct supervision.
Ultimately, this experience gave me practical learning opportunities, empowered me as a future occupational therapist, and provided valuable insights into the importance of autonomy in professional practice.
